How to check a Serbian fiscal receipt with its QR code
Updated: 2026-10-04
Every fiscal receipt in Serbia carries a QR code. It leads to the website of the Tax Administration (Poreska uprava), where you can confirm the receipt is genuine and see the full list of what you bought. You do not need the tax office's app for this — your phone camera is enough.
Why the receipt has a QR code
Since 1 May 2022, electronic fiscalization has been mandatory in Serbia: every receipt is registered with the Tax Administration at the moment of sale, and the printed receipt carries a QR code linking to suf.purs.gov.rs. This applies to shops, cafés, pharmacies, petrol stations — everyone required to issue a fiscal receipt.
How to check a receipt
- Open your phone camera and point it at the QR code on the receipt.
- Tap the link that appears — the verification page on the Tax Administration website opens.
- The page shows the seller and their PIB (tax ID), the shop address, the date and time of purchase, the total and the receipt itself. The list of items with prices and VAT rates opens in the receipt specification.
If the receipt was issued electronically (for example, sent by email), it contains a link to the same verification page instead of a QR code.
You can check the same receipt as many times as you like, for 10 years from the date of issue.
What the result means
The system answers in one of three ways: the receipt is valid, the receipt is not valid, or the system is temporarily unavailable. If it is unavailable, try again later. If the receipt is not valid, it was not registered with the tax office as printed — the seller may have handed you a non-fiscal document.
How to read a Serbian receipt
- ФИСКАЛНИ РАЧУН means fiscal receipt. ОВО НИЈЕ ФИСКАЛНИ РАЧУН ("this is not a fiscal receipt") appears on pro-forma bills (predračun) and receipt copies: they are not proof of a sale.
- ПИБ (PIB) is the seller's tax identification number. One company can have many shops under the same PIB.
- Ђ next to an item means VAT at the general rate of 20%, Е means the reduced rate of 10% (some food, medicines and so on).
- ПФР време and ПФР број рачуна are the time and number under which the receipt was registered with the tax office.
- Tills often shorten item names to 20–40 characters: "MLEKO 2,8% 1L" is 2.8% milk, "HLEB SAVA 500G" a loaf of bread.
Why keep your receipts
A fiscal receipt already holds everything expense tracking needs: where, when, what and for how much. There is no need to type purchases in by hand — scanning the QR code is enough.
That is how Moj Račun works: you scan the QR code in Telegram, the app pulls the purchase details from the Tax Administration website and sorts every item into categories — groceries, household supplies, transport. Analytics show how much goes to each category and how your spending changes month to month.
